The role of Chief digital and technology officer at the Metropolitan Police Service is a key senior leadership position within one of the world’s great police services. It’s your opportunity to work for and on behalf of one of the world’s great cities.

Reporting to the Deputy Commissioner you will lead this function to provide an efficient, effective and forward-looking Digital and Technology service delivery across the MPS, in support of organisational goals.

Contributing to the corporate leadership of the MPS and the wider police service as part of the MPS’s Management Board, you will develop and deliver digital and technological strategies and services to deliver both now and in the long term (looking out over a 5-10 year horizon) while building digital transformation and championing the needs of users.

You will have direct responsibility for leading Digital Policing, the team tasked with developing and delivering IT policies, processes, tools and services. Its work is crucial to helping MPS employees harness the full potential of information and technology in keeping London safe.

Your leadership will ensure that our combination of in-house and external managed functions delivers robust, high-performing and innovative IT services – while delivering true value for money from budgets and investment. By successfully building IT’s strategic capabilities, and by aligning our IT strategies to corporate priorities, you can make a high profile impact on almost every aspect of policing in London.

The requirements

It is essential that you have significant and in-depth experience of running and managing an IT function as a member of senior management. You will have developed IT strategy for large organisations of a similar scale and/or complexity and successfully led IT teams through the delivery of the strategic change programme.

You will combine a high level of commercial acumen with the ability to deliver against key strategic aims and objectives. Your negotiation and conflict resolution skills will stand up to the toughest scrutiny.

You will be an inspiring leader and effective people manager who is adept at promoting continuous learning and sharing best practices, knowledge and expertise.
